The approach was made at km 195 of BR-222, in Itapecuru-Mirim, in the north of Maranhão. According to the PRF, the team was traveling along the highway when they saw a car stopped on the shoulder and decided to approach it. ? He also said the passenger was just a hitchhiker. When asked about the load, the driver stated that he was carrying cell phones, but did not present an invoice. Given the information, the police inspected the vehicle and found several boxes with electronic equipment.

In total, 210 cell phones, of different brands and models, were seized, as well as 10 radio communicators. None of the products had proof of tax origin. The goods, the vehicle and the two occupants were sent to the Federal Police, in São Luís, where the case will be investigated and legal procedures will be adopted.
