Homeless people Stephanie Rodrigues/g1 The Federal Public Ministry (MPF) launched, this Thursday (9), a campaign to collect clothes for homeless people in Belém. Donations can be delivered to the institution's headquarters, in the Umarizal neighborhood, and include t-shirts, shorts, pants and shirts, in men's and women's models, in adult and children's sizes. The initiative takes place in a scenario of growth in the homeless population in the capital of Pará. A survey by the Brazilian Observatory of Public Policies for Homeless People showed that the number of people in this condition increased by more than 500% in Belém between 2018 and 2025. According to the MPF, the campaign was motivated by inspections carried out in May this year in public shelters and Specialized Reference Centers for Homeless Populations (Pop Centers). Inspections identified that the public authorities do not provide clothes or hygiene kits for this population, in addition to the absence of supportive laundry facilities and safe places to store belongings. The action is promoted by the Regional Prosecutor's Office for Citizens' Rights (PRDC) in Pará, in partnership with the social art educator Naraguassu Pureza. Donations are received from Monday to Friday, from 8am to 6pm. Interested people can also obtain information about the campaign through WhatsApp from the MPF communications department.
