Classroom in a municipal school in João Pessoa Sérgio Lucena/PMJP/Disclosure The Public Ministry of Paraíba (MPPB) issued a recommendation for seven municipalities in the Vale do Piancó region, in Paraíba, to implement activities aimed at preventing domestic and gender-based violence in schools. The recommendation was made official on Thursday (9) and applies to the cities of Itaporanga, Boa Ventura, Curral Velho, Diamante, Pedra Branca, São José de Caiana and Serra Grande. According to the MP, the measure aims to promote a culture of respect and gender equality through the school environment, strengthening the protection network and awareness about women's rights. ? Among the measures established are the creation of continuous planning, focusing on strategic dates, in addition to accountability for actions. City halls must present annually, by the month of March, a schedule with pedagogical activities to combat gender-based violence. And, by December of each year, municipal management must submit a report detailing the actions developed to the Public Prosecutor's Office. The recommendation also highlights the need to intensify actions during periods such as the School Week to Combat Domestic Violence against Women and International Women's Day, as provided for in Law No. 14,164/2021. The municipalities mentioned must inform the MP, within 20 working days, about compliance with the measures. Failure to comply may result in the adoption of extrajudicial and judicial actions.
