Brazilian doctor enters the Guinness Book of Records after giving 195 kisses in 30 seconds Breaking world records has become a hobby for doctor Renato Bayma Gaia, 32, who lives in São José dos Campos, in the interior of SP. After achieving the record for the most kisses given by a couple in 30 seconds, confirmed this week by Guinness World Records, he maintains six officially recognized brands and says he still intends to increase this list. To g1, Renato said that the dream began in his childhood, but the first record came recently, in 2021. Since then, Renato started looking for new challenges and says that competitiveness was fuel to continue. "I was about 10 years old when I watched the Guinness Book program. I thought: 'Wow, I want to get into Guinness'. Over time that passed, but it came back around 2017. Then I decided to give it a real try", he recalls. "I'm addicted to winning. I've always been very competitive. I'm a two-time city champion in football, a black belt in taekwondo, I've always liked winning medals and improving my level. My ambition increased and I continued breaking records," he said. Personal archive The doctor has already achieved eight records throughout his career and currently holds six recognized by Guinness. Among the achievements are the greatest foot rotation in the world, the fastest time to stack and knock down 10 books, typing with one finger the name of the Welsh city Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch and, more recently, 195 kisses given in 30 seconds next to his girlfriend, among others. According to Renato, some brands require preparation, while others depend more on technique. "There are some that I train a little more. I don't have much time, because I'm a doctor, but sometimes I take half an hour out of the day to train." Renato explains that anyone can try to break a world record. The first step is to create an account on the Guinness World Records website and choose a category. After registration, the organization sends a regulation with all the rules and evidence that needs to be presented, such as videos, witnesses and documents. After making the attempt, the candidate sends the material for analysis. "I did everything for free. They take three to five months to evaluate. There is a priority modality, but it costs around R$5,000." According to him, there is no cash prize for those who achieve a record. "That's the question I get the most. I don't earn anything. I get a certificate, but there's no remuneration." Brazilian doctor has already appeared in the Guinness book Personal archive Physical book and Saint Joseph shirt In addition to the certificates, Renato also achieved a rare feat: he appeared twice in the printed edition of Guinness World Records. "There are people who spend their entire lives without being able to get into a physical book. I managed to appear twice and that was really cool." In some attempts, he makes a point of representing the city where he lives. In one of the records, he wore the São José Esporte Clube shirt. "I'm a regular at São José games and I really like the club. I think it's a cool way to represent the team and the city." Diagnosed with ADHD at age 28, he says he wants to show that people with the disorder can achieve big goals. "I want to prove that people with ADHD are capable of anything they want." Another flag he defends is bone marrow donation. Renato's father needed a transplant, an experience that motivated him to register as a donor and encourage other people to do the same. "The compatibility is very low, about one in 100,000 people. I want to use my records to encourage bone marrow donation." Despite the six brands already recognized, he guarantees that he does not intend to stop yet. "I want to encourage more Brazilians to try to break records. Brazil is a huge country and still participates little in Guinness. I think it would be really cool to see more Brazilians achieving these marks."
