MP investigates R$950,000 Semasc agreement financed by parliamentary amendments

Facade of the Municipal Secretariat for Women, Social Assistance and Citizenship (Semasc) Disclosure/Semasc The Public Ministry of the State of Amazonas (MPAM) is investigating suspected irregularities in the execution of an agreement worth R$950,000 signed between the Municipal Secretariat for Women, Social Assistance and Citizenship (Semasc) and the Nossa Senhora Aparecida Institute. The resources, coming from municipal parliamentary amendments, were allocated to the project "Designing for the Future: a look at new life projects – empowerment and social inclusion". The ordinance that opened the procedure was published on Monday (13), after a Fact Notice pointed out signs of irregularities in the execution of Development Term nº 042/2022. Among the points investigated by the Public Prosecutor's Office is the possible lack of technical capacity of the entity to carry out the planned services. ? The investigation is conducted by the 70th Public Prosecutor's Office Specializing in the Defense and Protection of Public Assets, under the responsibility of prosecutor Edgard Maia de Albuquerque Rocha. As part of the steps, the MP notified Maurício Mendonça da Silva, legal responsible for the institute at the time of the events. He must provide clarifications on the execution of the agreement and on the entity's alleged lack of technical capacity to carry out the planned services. g1 tries to contact Maurício Mendonça da Silva. The former secretary of Semasc, Eduardo Lucas da Silva, was also notified. It must clarify issues related to the celebration and execution of the funding agreement, in addition to questions about the technical capacity of the beneficiary organization. g1 was unable to locate his defense. In the ordinance, the prosecutor states that the investigation seeks to verify possible damage to public property and ensure the correct application of resources allocated to the social project financed by parliamentary amendments. g1 contacted Manaus City Hall to comment on the investigation.
