The measure was defined in a meeting held on Wednesday (29) and aims to avoid losses in care and a possible worsening of the state's public health crisis. According to the entities, companies that provide medical services to the state have been accumulating late payments since 2024. Among them are the Pediatric Cooperative for Neonatal Care of Amazonas (Coopaneo) and the Society of Pediatricians of the State of Amazonas (Cooped). g1 sought out the Government of Amazonas and the State Department of Health of Amazonas (SES-AM) to comment on the charges made by the entities regarding delays in payments to professionals in the public health network, but did not receive a response until the last update of this report. ? The cooperative states that it still has R$7.3 million to receive for the period. Doctors' strike: patients complain about the delay in AM care The entity also reported that it accumulates credits of R$3.5 million for services provided in 2025 and R$6.8 million for services provided in 2026. In addition, the cooperative says it has R$4.6 million to receive for services performed through the Association for Management, Innovation and Results in Health (Agir Saúde), responsible for the outsourced management of state health units. The Society of Pediatricians of the State of Amazonas claims to have R$21.6 million to receive for services provided between 2024 and 2026 in units that serve children in Manaus. According to the cooperative, R$3.9 million refers to services carried out in 2024. Another R$8.9 million corresponds to services carried out in 2025 at the Comprehensive Child Care Centers (CAICs). This year, the entity states that it stopped receiving over R$8.7 million for services provided between April and June. As a forward to the meeting, Simeam and CRM-AM decided to prepare a joint technical note with information on the delays reported by the companies. The document will be used to demand action from public authorities. The entities also intend to hold meetings with SES-AM, the Public Ministry of Amazonas (MPAM) and the Court of Auditors of the State of Amazonas (TCE-AM). Entities rule out stoppage Simeam and CRM-AM stated that there is no forecast of stoppage of care or suspension of services in the public health network. According to the entities, the priority is to avoid harm to the population and prevent the worsening of the lack of medical assistance in the state. According to category representatives, delays in payments and frequent changes in outsourced companies responsible for hiring doctors have generated instability in the system. In addition to administrative charges, the entities reported that they are studying legal measures to guarantee the payment of amounts owed to professionals. Delays affect medical schedules In a joint note, CRM-AM and Simeam stated that the delays go beyond the financial impact. According to the entities, the delay in paying salaries, fees, shifts and overtime makes it difficult to organize shifts, compromises the maintenance of teams and harms the continuity of care. "Doctors have maintained their commitment to patients and the functioning of services, even in the face of personal and professional difficulties. However, the regular and safe provision of care also depends on adequate working conditions, availability of inputs, technology, structure and timely remuneration", says an excerpt from the note. The entities argue that the regularization of payments is necessary to maintain medical teams, guarantee the continuity of services and ensure adequate care for the population.
