Singer Marcelo D2 Credit: Rafael Cautella João Rock 2026, held on August 1st, in Ribeirão Preto, will be the stage for the meeting between two generations that helped build the history of Brazilian hip-hop. For the first time, Marcelo D2 and Rael will share the same show at a festival, in a project designed especially for the event. Representing the Southeast on Palco Brasil, the artists will present an exclusive repertoire, with hits from both careers. "It is the meeting of two important names in Brazilian music. On the one hand, Marcelo D2, one of those responsible for expanding the horizons of Brazilian hip-hop. On the other, Rael, who became one of the main voices of his generation. Both move through different styles, such as rock, reggae, samba, MPB and black music, a characteristic that reflects the essence of João Rock", comments Marcelo Rocci, one of the organizers of J Cantor Rael Credit: Rafael Cautella According to Marcelo D2, the friendship between they was built alongside admiration for the partner's work. "I followed Rael's emergence. He is a very talented artist, who rhymes and sings very well. Sharing this stage with him will be a pleasure", he says. When talking about the repertoire, the singer highlights two tracks that he considers essential. “‘Envolvidão’ and ‘O Hip-Hop É Foda’ cannot be missed. I already told Rael that. They are songs that I would sing calmly in my own shows”, he adds. Rael also celebrates the invitation to share the stage with one of the artists who helped pave the way for different generations of Brazilian rap. "Being close and singing with D2 is an honor, it is an icon of our segment and of Brazilian music in general. We have never done a show together, intimate, uniting our works and with songs that have everything to do with the context and our history", he comments. With the theme “From North to South”, Palco Brasil will bring together, for the first time, representatives from the five regions of the country. In addition to Marcelo D2 and Rael, for the Southeast, the space will welcome Os Tucumanus and Victor Xamã, representing the North; Nação Zumbi, the Northeast; Raimundos, the Central-West; and Armandinho, the South.
