"The most important demands of each municipality will be met within the state's budgetary possibilities. We will structure, within the policies adopted by the civil house, which demands will be executed now and which will be implemented later", he explained. The mayor of Rio das Ostras and president of the development consortium, Carlos Augusto, highlighted the importance of the meeting in order to prepare for the high season and in anticipation of the super El Niño. "We brought to this hearing all the requests that our municipalities have, preparing us for the summer, which will certainly see an increase in the flow of residents and needs", stated Carlos Augusto. Prevention of flooding and continuity of projects One of the central points raised at the meeting was the strengthening of the Limpa Rio Program. The mayors asked for more machines and teams to be sent to clean rivers, canals and drainage systems. The objective is to reduce the risk of flooding in the region, especially given the forecast of more intense weather events caused by the Super El Niño phenomenon. Another point raised at the hearing was the need to maintain the continuity of partnerships between the State and municipalities. According to mayors, many projects end up being interrupted after election periods. The consortium's intention is to establish a permanent dialogue agenda to ensure that works and investments in the Lakes Region are not interrupted.
