Taubaté Civil Police Sectional Station (SP) Laurene Santos/TV Vanguarda A 49-year-old man died late this Saturday afternoon (25) inside the 1st DP of Taubaté. According to the police report, he had been arrested on suspicion of domestic violence. At the police station, he allegedly tried to grab a police officer's gun and, after ignoring the request to move away, was shot by the soldier. According to the BO, a retired military police officer heard his neighbor's cries for help on Rua Agnaldo Varella, in the Chácara Belo Horizonte neighborhood, in Taubaté. When he went out into the street, he said he saw a woman looking for shelter in another residence and being chased by a man. The retired police officer, with the help of another person, immobilized the man. ? She appeared to have injuries on her face and bruises on her arm. The Military Police were called, and the man was taken to the 1st DP of Taubaté to formalize the incident. At the police station, the man was uncuffed and appeared to be calm. According to the police report, he advanced against a police officer in an attempt to grab the gun that was in his holster. Witnesses said the officer asked the man to drop the gun and walk away. As the order was not followed and given the confusion, the soldier fired a shot that hit the chest area. Samu was called to assist the man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. The police report says that the police officer was not arrested because it was self-defense.
