Man arrested on suspicion of being part of a group investigated for sexual exploitation of women in Paraíba

Victims were subjected to economic exploitation, isolation and exhausting working hours. During the first phase of the operation, launched on June 10, 18 women victims of exploitation were rescued in the municipalities of Guarabira, Pedro Régis and Alagoa Grande, in Paraíba. According to the Federal Police, the crimes of human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation, reduction to the analogous condition of slavery, ruffianism and maintenance of an establishment intended for sexual exploitation will continue to be investigated by the agency. ? Ruffianism is a crime provided for in the Brazilian Penal Code, which consists of taking financial advantage of other people's prostitution, either directly participating in the profits or being supported, in whole or in part, by the money of the person carrying out the activity.
