The interruption occurs due to preventive maintenance at the Juturnaíba Water Treatment Station (ETA), carried out by the concessionaire Prolagos. According to the company, services start at 6am and are expected to end at 8pm. The maintenance aims to reinforce the operational safety of the station and improve the water distribution system in the five municipalities. Prolagos advises residents to keep water intake registers open to ensure water tanks and cisterns are filled before interruption. According to Prolagos Operations Manager, Pablo Meletti, supply will resume gradually after the services are completed. “The resumption of supply begins after the end of maintenance and may take up to 48 hours or more, especially in elevated areas and located at the ends of distribution networks”, he explained. During the shutdown, water truck supply will be prioritized for hospitals, clinics, emergency care units and other services considered essential. The concessionaire also informed that it will take advantage of the period of interruption to carry out other interventions in the distribution system and actions to combat water losses. “We took advantage of the stoppage, when the pipes are empty, to carry out other strategic improvements and advance the modernization of the system”, stated the executive director of Prolagos, Aline Póvoas.
