Interdiction Municipal Hospital Pedro I, in Campina Grande Reproduction Coren-PB The Regional Nursing Council of Paraíba (Coren-PB) decided to maintain the ethical ban on nursing activities in the Intensive Care Unit 2 (ICU 2) and at the Nursing Station 2 of the Municipal Hospital Pedro I, in Campina Grande. The measure was maintained after a new inspection found that the irregularities that led to the ban, applied in November 2025, had not yet been fully corrected. ? Despite the hospital reporting that it made structural and organizational adjustments, the report concluded that non-conformities still persist that compromise the safety of patients, nursing professionals and the quality of care provided. During the inspection, structural and organizational inadequacies were again identified in the unit, including: pipes and drains of the air conditioning system exposed in the ward bathrooms; absence of electrical outlets at the head of the beds; inadequate proximity between the electrical network and the medical gas network; in addition to the movement of workers and construction materials in care areas without physical isolation; accumulation of waste from works in circulation areas; absence of electric showers in bathrooms for patients.

According to the technical report, the irregularities do not comply with the rules of the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa), the National Patient Safety Program, the Law on Professional Nursing Practice and resolutions of the Federal Nursing Council (Cofen), as they represent risks to care and the exercise of the profession. In a statement, the president of Coren-PB, Thiago Roniere, stated that the ethical ban is preventive in nature and will be maintained until all non-conformities are corrected and proven in a new inspection. The partial ethical ban was applied by Coren-PB in November 2025, after inspections highlighted serious structural and care failures in the Material and Sterilization Center (CME), ICU 2 and Nursing Station 2 sectors. At the time, problems were identified in the processing of materials, structural inadequacies, risks related to infection control and conditions considered incompatible with the safety of care. Based on the results of the new inspection, the Inquiry Committee recommended the rejection of the request for ethical ban, maintaining the measure until all irregularities are fully remedied and proven in a new technical assessment.
