At the time, Mariana lived with intense pain in the abdominal region and had bleeding outside of her menstrual period. After months of discomfort, she decided to seek medical attention. "I felt a lot of pain in my stomach, it was all day long. I also had bleeding during sexual intercourse and outside of my menstrual period. When I told the doctor everything, he said that I had at least three diagnoses and asked for several tests", he reported at the time. During the investigation, the tests initially showed endometriosis, the presence of the HPV virus and cellular changes. Confirmation of cancer, however, came after a biopsy. The Acreian needed to undergo surgery in August of that year. However, new tests confirmed that the disease had reached the lymph nodes. "When they did the new biopsy, two lymph nodes were positive. This showed that the cancer had already reached the bloodstream", he explained at the time. However, in November 2025, during routine examinations, he received a new diagnosis: lung cancer. Treatment this time included chemotherapy and immunotherapy. With the new protocol, the businesswoman began to face other side effects, such as hair loss, intense tiredness, nausea, vomiting and weakness. "Every day you think you're going to wake up feeling good and that everything will be fine. But when you wake up, it's bad. You make plans for the day, but none of that happens because you're not feeling well and you need to understand that your body needs to rest, but at the same time, you're demanding yourself. The most invasive part is the chemotherapy, it's painful and tiring," he said during the interview. Even in the face of treatment, the businesswoman sought to preserve moments with her family. In 2025, he even asked to postpone one of his chemotherapy sessions to spend Christmas with his family. “I wanted to live that moment, see my cousins ??and forget for a while that the cancer was there,” he said. Her mother, Lucilene Quintela, closely followed the different moments of the illness. For her, her routine with her daughter was marked by the need to maintain strength, even in the face of suffering. "As a mother, we never expect this to happen to a child, we expect it to happen to us. I needed to be her strength, as it is just the two of us. Faith in God has been what sustains me and I believe that he is healing my daughter", she stated at the time.
