The case was formally reported to the competent authorities in 2025, but, after more than a year of waiting, no team went to the site to carry out pruning or evaluation of the structure. g1 requested it from Belém city hall, but had not yet received a response until the last update of the report. A short circuit scared those who live in the building. The friction of the branches with the power cables caused sparks and a fire, requiring immediate intervention from the Fire Department to contain the flames. Retired Geraldo Rocha Cavaleiro de Macedo Pereira Filho, resident of the building, reports the daily danger of living next to energized branches. "There is a real danger of the wiring breaking or sparks continuing to come directly into our homes", warns Geraldo. The condominium manager, Regina Vasconcelos, recalled the moments of panic experienced during the last incident, when her husband needed to call for help urgently. "My husband had to quickly call the fire department to prevent the fire from spreading throughout the building," she says. Risk of falling and pest invasion In addition to the imminent danger of fire, the physical state of the castanette worries the condominium's informal experts. Photographic records taken by the residents themselves show that the tree trunk shows severe signs of wear. "It's all hollow inside," says retiree Paulo Sérgio Mendes, pointing to the base of the tree and expressing his fear that it will collapse onto the public road or against the building's facade during a storm. The physical invasion of the branches through the windows also brought public health and hygiene problems to the residents of the affected block. With the leaves practically inside the apartments, residents began to live with the constant presence of bats, insects and other wild animals inside their homes. Apartment for sale The discomfort and feeling of insecurity reached such a point that the condominium's routine was affected in the real estate market. Faced with neglect and the fear that the branches will continue to advance into the properties, at least one of the apartments in the building has already been put up for sale by the owner, who preferred to move rather than continue living with the daily risk.
