The measure aims to keep access to the Post-Balsa region, which is made up of rural areas, protecting water sources and indigenous villages, free. Currently, tolls are charged on the stretch only on the way down to the coast, with a single fare of R$40.60. With the free-flow system, which comes into force on August 1st, this amount will be divided.
