The elderly woman was alone in the residence and only noticed the fire when the hammock she was sleeping in started to burn. She suffered first, second and third degree burns to her head, arms, back and legs, as well as injuries caused by smoke inhalation. According to firefighters, a neighbor managed to remove the victim from the house and provided first aid until rescue teams arrived. The fire destroyed a large part of the property. There was a motorcycle workshop on the same land, which was also hit by the flames. The causes of the fire will be investigated by the Civil Police. Ivanete's body was sent to the Technical-Scientific Institute of Expertise (Itep), in Natal, where it will undergo an autopsy before being released to the family.
