She has never been given any judgment of disapproval, and the ruling now handed down confirms this with the force of a unanimous judgment." In the complaint sent to the Court at the time, the Public Prosecutor's Office pointed out irregular practices that ranged from forged scales and doctors who were paid for shifts not worked, to the use of expired medicines and ethanol. In another case, still in progress in court, the MP also pointed out that Santa Casa de Patrocínio Paulista suffered a loss of at least R$574,000 in its accounts and almost lost its accreditation to operate under the Unified Health System (SUS), due to deviations pointed out by bodies such as the State Audit Court (TCE). There is still no decision from the TJ on this matter. 'Station alcohol' in cleaning and expired medicines According to the MP, shortly after the change in management at Santa Casa, investigations raised signs of irregularities at the hospital, including the use of "station alcohol", ethanol that should be used to fuel cars, for disinfecting rooms and cleaning surfaces, as well as the use of expired medicines from other hospitals on Santa Casa's premises. After a complaint forwarded to the Court by the MP, three managers were convicted in the first instance for falsifying, corrupting, adulterating or altering a product intended for therapeutic or medicinal purposes, as well as for selling, having in storage for sale or exhibiting for sale or, in any way, delivering raw materials or merchandise, in conditions unsuitable for consumption. The defense filed an appeal and the new decision, which acquitted the managers, was handed down this Monday.
