Public health in Pindamonhangaba is experiencing one of the biggest investment cycles in its history. In partnership with Santa Casa de Misericórdia, the City Hall is enabling works that will expand the service capacity of the Unified Health System (SUS), reduce waiting times for hospitalizations and provide a more humanized environment for pregnant women, babies and families. The main investment includes the construction of a new wing in Santa Casa, with around 656 square meters of built area, made possible by resources from the Federal Government. The project foresees the creation of 20 new Medical Clinic beds, increasing the hospitalization capacity from 45 to 65 beds, which represents an increase of approximately 45%, in addition to the complete restructuring of the maternity ward, which will maintain the 36 beds, but with a new concept of reception and comfort. The total investment is R$10 million, including works, acquisition of equipment and renovation of furniture. Mayor Ricardo Piorino highlighted that the investments reflect the municipal administration's priority in strengthening public health. "Investing in health is investing in people's quality of life. We are expanding Santa Casa's service capacity, strengthening the SUS and making our maternity ward even more human and welcoming. These are works that will benefit thousands of families and that demonstrate our management's commitment to increasingly better public health," he stated. According to the municipal secretary of Health, Andreia Martins, the expansion represents an important advance for the entire public network. "We are experiencing a significant transformation in the health of Pindamonhangaba. The expansion of the Medical Clinic will allow us to free up the Emergency Room, reducing the waiting time for admissions and offering more agile care to the population. It is an investment that improves the entire care network", he stated. The works at Santa Casa are part of a broad plan to strengthen the municipal health network. In 2026, the City Hall is also executing the construction of the Integrated Center for Medical Specialties (CIEM), next to the Emergency Room, which will concentrate consultations, exams and specialized procedures in a single space; the new Municipal Clinical Analysis Laboratory; in addition to the future Rehabilitation Center in Parque das Palmeiras and new health units in different neighborhoods. With this set of investments, the municipal administration designs a more modern, efficient and humanized health network, expanding service capacity and offering a better quality of life to the population of Pindamonhangaba. Maternity will have more comfort and humanization In addition to the expansion of the Medical Clinic, the Santa Casa maternity ward will undergo a complete remodeling aimed at humanizing care. Although the number of beds will remain the same, the new structure will offer rooms for just two mothers, instead of three, ensuring more privacy, comfort and tranquility during hospitalization. The companions will have more comfortable chairs and the newborns will remain next to their mothers throughout the hospitalization period, strengthening the family bond from the first moments of life. Another important change will be the reorganization of spaces, separating pregnant women in labor from mothers who have already had their babies, providing a more welcoming environment for all families.
