According to the investigation, the inspection did not identify structural problems or signs of wear that indicated a risk of collapse. The structure, built in concrete in the 1960s, had the capacity to store around 2 million liters of water. At the time of the events, the company's president, Marcus Vinícius, stated that the reservoir was not part of a list of structures in critical condition and was considered “intact” by the standards of reservoirs in the state. On the occasion, the professor of Civil Engineering at the Federal University of Campina Grande (UFCG), Marcos Simplício, stated that the ART is a mandatory document, as it identifies the person technically responsible for works, projects and inspections.
