In Rio Grande do Sul, the species inhabits remaining areas of the Atlantic Forest and gallery forests, where it finds shelter and prey. The professionals found that the ocelot was in good health. The team then reinserted the animal into its natural habitat. The Military Brigade advises the population to avoid any attempt to capture, handle or feed them when encountering wild animals in urban or rural areas.
