Closing the program, the orchestra will present Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D Major, BWV 1068, one of Johann Sebastian Bach's best-known works and which has become a reference in the classical music repertoire. According to maestro Rubens Souza, the chosen repertoire allows the public to discover different moments in the evolution of classical music and understand the influence of the Bach family on musical history. Johann Sebastian Bach wrote four orchestral suites, the second and third being the best known. The third gained worldwide prominence for including the melody later known as "Ária da Corda Sol", which emerged from an arrangement created years after the original composition. In addition to the famous aria, the suite brings together movements inspired by traditional dances of the time, such as bourrée, minuet and gigue, hallmarks of baroque music. Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach's concert represents the transformations that marked the musical language of the 18th century. "Johann Sebastian Bach's son was an essential figure in the transition between baroque and classical styles, maintaining traditional elements, such as the basso continuo played by the harpsichord, but incorporating more modern writing. The public will see the legacy of good music from father to son", says Rubens Souza. Flutist Arley Raiol will be the soloist of the performance. The concert will highlight the participation of flutist Arley Raiol, responsible for interpreting the work of Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach. The composition is considered highly virtuoso and was written for King Frederick II of Prussia, known for mastering the flute and encouraging musical production in his court. For maestro Rubens Souza, the choice of soloist reinforces the artistic level of the performance. "This is a flute concerto and will feature the soloist Arley Raiol, one of the great musicians I know. The concerto requires the soloist to be a virtuoso." Arley Raiol highlights that performing a work from this repertoire represents an opportunity to share with the public compositions that have spanned centuries and are still current. "For me, as a soloist in the orchestra, it is always a privilege to present a work, share my work with an orchestral collective and bring these works to the public for appreciation." According to the musician, following an orchestral music performance is also a way of traveling through history and getting closer to the period in which these works were created. "Orchestral music is a factual possibility of traveling through time. Whenever this possibility of watching works that were composed in the 18th century appeared for me, for example, which is the case with this repertoire in the next program, it is a possibility of transporting ourselves to that period." History of OSA The Amazon Symphony Orchestra (OSA) was founded in January 2024 by maestro Rubens Cláudio. The group's official debut took place on May 5, 2024, on the historic stage of Teatro Amazonas, in Manaus. Currently, OSA has 60 musicians and develops programming aimed at valuing concert music and artistic production in the Amazon region.
