Madalena Souza, the child's aunt, reported that she fell into the container and was unable to get up. "I was at home and, suddenly, I saw my sister-in-law coming in despair with the girl, who had fallen into a bucket. The bucket was half full of water, and she fell on her head", he said. "As she was tiny, only two years and one month old, there was no way for her to turn around inside the bucket, which was narrow, and she remained upside down", he added. The aunt said that the family does not know how long the girl was inside the container, but that her mother was alerted by her other daughter's crying. "When the mother saw it, she was already purple, faint, soft. We couldn't tell the time, but it wasn't long, because the other baby cried, I think it was at the moment she fell, the other one cried. Then the mother, when she picked her up, she was already purple", he said. Family members tried to revive the girl with cardiac massage. Then, the mother asked an app driver who was passing by on the street for help. The child was taken to Santa Catarina Hospital, also in the North Zone of Natal. Doctors performed resuscitation procedures, but she did not survive.
