(UOL/FOLHAPRESS) - Colo-Colo's new reinforcement, goalkeeper Josimar Évora Dias, better known as Vozinha, will not be able to use his nickname on the back of the Chilean team's shirt.

Chilean league rules do not allow nicknames on the shirt. According to the official text of the National First Division Championship Bases of the ANFP (National Professional Football Association of Chile), the paternal or maternal surname must be printed.

For the players' personal identification, the paternal and/or maternal surname must be printed on the upper part of the back of the shirt, with a height between 5 and 5.5 cm, and the initial of the first name may be added. No nicknames, nicknames or code names will be allowed. If there are players with the same surname in the same club, the initial of the first name or second surname must be added to distinguish them, in this order of preference. For this reason, the goalkeeper will have to use his formal civil registration surname - "Dias" or "Évora Dias" - in local tournament matches. According to Rádio Maray, from Chile, the only possibility for Vozinha to use his nickname on his shirt will occur if the club applies to the federation and obtains "special authorization or exception" from the ANFP.

The 40-year-old goalkeeper had been without a club since leaving Portugal's GD Chaves before the World Cup. After standing out in the World Cup for the Cape Verde team, he had stated that he wanted a club that valued him sportingly and that would not hire him just for marketing.

Vozinha was one of the biggest attractions of the 2026 World Cup. The goalkeeper shone in the first round, made important saves in Cape Verde's 0-0 draw with Spain and gained millions of followers on social media. this Monday (27), there are more than 29 million.

The Cape Verde campaign gave Vozinha even more visibility. The team also drew with Uruguay (2-2) and Saudi Arabia (0-0) in the group stage to advance to the knockout stages. In the second phase, they held 1-1 with Argentina in normal time, but ended up defeated 3-2 in extra time.

Colo-Colo, his new club, is going through a solid phase and is leading the Chilean Championship. On the international stage, however, the club does not even compete in the Copa Sudamericana, as it finished the previous edition of the national league in eighth place, outside the classification zone.
