Supercomputer points out three teams ahead of Brazil to win the World Cup

SÃO PAULO, SP (UOL/FOLHAPRESS) - The Opta supercomputer's predictions for Brazil in this World Cup are improving. The team rose one position in relation to the simulation carried out at the beginning of the knockout stages and is now the fourth favorite to win the competition, according to calculations updated this Saturday, after two round of 16 games.

Three teams are ahead of Brazil in favoritism, according to Opta. The Brazilian team appears to be winning the cup in 8.97% of the 25,000 most recent scenarios calculated by the sports data company's supercomputer.

France is at the top of the table, with a 31.74% chance of being champion. The European team is the only one among the five favorites that has already played its round of 16 game - it beat Paraguay 1-0 this Saturday (4). In the next phase, the leader will face Morocco, who eliminated Canada.

Argentina and Spain complete the top 3, ahead of Brazil. The current world champions, who will face Egypt in the knockout stage, have a 15.43% chance of winning the title. The Spanish, who will face Portugal, lifted the cup in 12.95% of the calculated scenarios.

The Brazilian team surpassed England in the last simulation. Scenarios calculated before the start of the second phase of the World Cup placed the English in fourth place, with a 9.7% chance of winning the World Cup. Now, however, they only have 8.06%.

Brazil faces Norway tomorrow, at 5pm, at MetLife Stadium, in East Rutherford, New Jersey (USA). Whoever wins the match, valid for the round of 16 of the World Cup, will face the winner of the duel between Mexico and England.
