An online petition created by an Argentine fan surpassed 67,000 signatures when requesting the annulment of the 2026 World Cup final, won by Spain 1-0 over Argentina, last Sunday (19), in New Jersey.

The initiative was launched by Gisela Sánchez, who attributes the result of the match to the performance of Slovenian referee Slavko Vincic. In the published text, she asks for the confrontation to be reviewed and states, without presenting evidence, that there were recordings proving that the judge had been bought.

The author of the petition states that the outcome of the decision frustrated players, coaching staff and fans, by claiming that the champion was not defined only by performance on the field, but by refereeing decisions that she considers compromised.

The movement gained repercussion in Spain. The newspaper Mundo Deportivo highlighted that requests of this type do not produce practical effects, remembering that a final can only be repeated in exceptional situations provided for by regulations or by determination of the competent bodies.
