SÃO PAULO, SP (UOL/FOLHAPRESS) - The president of the Italian Football Federation, Giovanni Malagò, confirmed that the entity is negotiating with Pep Guardiola to command the national team, aiming for the 2030 World Cup.

Giovanni Malagò revealed that the Italian Federation has opened talks with Guardiola. In an interview with the YouTube channel Cronache di Spogliatoio, this Tuesday, he confirmed the contact and guaranteed that the other options are also of a high level, if he does not reach an agreement with the Spanish coach.

The leader assured that money is not a problem in negotiations. "Exceptions were made which, for example, could involve the name that is so popular at these times: Pep Guardiola. Exceptions for obvious reasons that I will not explain here, but it is not certain that this will go ahead", said Malagò about the budget to hire the coach.

In addition to Guardiola, Andrea Pirlo and Roberto Mancini were also mentioned. Malagò, however, assured that the options for the position are not restricted to these three candidates: "No, not at all. We think of a certain profile, and these names certainly fall into that category."

Guardiola is not the only one with talks underway, according to the FIGC president. "I believe it was important to open a dialogue [with Guardiola] and keep it warm. It's not a lack of respect for other names, because with them the conversation has already started. Then, you can opt for someone who perhaps belongs to a more recent school. The question is very subjective," he said.

Federation is looking for a new coach after being left without a place in three consecutive World Cups. In addition to Malagò, former players Paolo Maldini, the new technical director of the Italian teams, and Leonardo, his consultant, are participating in the negotiations. Guardiola has been without a club since leaving Manchester City in May. The Spaniard's time at the English club came to an end after ten years, with 20 titles won.

"Paredes was lucky I wasn't on the pitch," says Ibrahimovic

The Swede stated that he would have reacted to the attacks committed by the Argentine in the World Cup final and also criticized the passivity of Spain's players during the confusion
