The Minas Gerais Military Police were called by a niece of the couple, who used to help care for her uncle. Upon arriving at the property, the woman found the suspect sitting on the floor, next to the bed, with a bloody knife between her legs.
According to the police report, when asked what had happened, the woman simply replied: "I killed him." The niece then removed the victim's blanket and noticed a wound in the chest area, in addition to the absence of vital signs. When the police arrived, the suspect remained at the scene, but the knife was already on a table in the room.
In testimony, the woman said that her husband suffered a cerebrovascular accident (CVA) in May last year and, since then, he began to experience episodes of dementia. She stated that, despite his illness, he often recalled an extramarital relationship that occurred around 30 years ago and began to insult her, calling her a "slut" and a "slut", in addition to saying that the couple's children were not his.
The suspect also reported that her husband's aggressive behavior had intensified in recent days. According to her, on Friday, he sent offensive messages to her cell phone and, later, during an argument, he slapped her. On Saturday, the insults continued and, on Sunday, he insulted her again throughout the day.
According to the report, in the early hours of Monday the man woke up agitated, kicking the bed railing. The woman said she had to go to the room several times to calm him down and, on one occasion, her hair was pulled by her husband while she was offended.
She stated that, after managing to free herself, she went to the kitchen, grabbed a knife and returned to the bedroom. From that moment on, he said he did not remember what happened. According to the suspect, she only realized she had hit her husband when she saw him injured. Then he tried to wake him up, but he no longer reacted.
The Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) was called and confirmed the victim's death. The case will be investigated by the Minas Gerais Civil Police, which will investigate the circumstances of the crime and the version presented by the woman.
