RIO DE JANEIRO, RJ (FOLHAPRESS) - Five men suspected of being part of a group specialized in robberies and thefts of luxury properties were arrested on Friday (10) by the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro in an action that...
The group was found in Copacabana, south of Rio de Janeiro, when, according to the police, it was preparing to invade and rob the home of a businessman monitored by the group. Investigations indicate that the suspects have already participated in similar crimes in Rio Grande do Sul and Goiás.
The suspects were identified as Allan Noblat de Lima, 33, Felipe Perreira, 30, João Vittor Santos Silva, 27, Matheus Medeiros Miranda, 23, and Mateus dos Santos da Rocha, 26.
The report tried to contact lawyer Manuela Barros, who accompanied the group at the police station, through messages and phone calls this Sunday afternoon (12), but has not received a response so far.
In testimony, according to the police, the prisoners confessed to participating in planning the crime.
"According to the investigations, the group operates in an organized manner in several states across the country, previously selecting victims with high purchasing power by collecting personal and property information available on the internet. Based on these surveys, the criminals planned their actions and monitored the victims' routine before attempting to invade the properties," said the police, in a statement.
The arrest of the suspects was possible after the exchange of information between the police of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. The data indicated that three members of the group were staying in a building on Avenida Atlântica, in Copacabana.
Upon arriving at the scene, agents seized tools used for break-ins, gloves and other instruments used in theft.
"The investigations also showed that the criminals used glue on their fingers to make identification using fingerprints difficult," says the police.
The other two suspects were found in another property also in Copacabana.
