The mother of the 3-year-old girl who was kicked by her own father said she was “revolted, scared and shocked” upon discovering the violence committed against her daughter. The statement was given to delegate Ricardo Moraes Faria dos Santos, responsible for investigating the case, which gained national attention after images of the attack circulated on social media. According to the Civil Police, the woman stated that she had never suspected that the child could be the victim of attacks inside the house and revealed that she only became aware of the episode after watching the video that went viral on the internet.

According to the delegate, the mother reported that she was deeply shaken when she saw the images and assured that she never imagined that her partner would be capable of attacking her own daughter in that way. Until then, according to the statement, she was not aware of any similar situation involving the girl.
After confirming the attack, the woman immediately went to the police station to file a police report. In addition to the complaint, she formalized the request for definitive separation from the suspect and requested urgent protective measures for herself and her two children.

During the investigations, the Civil Police also interviewed the child's grandparents and a maternal uncle. Despite cooperating with all the clarifications requested by the authorities, the mother chose to preserve the family's privacy given the repercussions of the case.
In an audio sent to the Fantástico program, she stated that she was very shaken by the whole situation and said that her partner had never exhibited aggressive behavior during the relationship.
“He never had that kind of attitude, he was never aggressive, we always worked and had a normal, super normal life. So I'm very shaken by everything that's happening. The police are already taking action and the only thing I preserve is the well-being of my children at this moment and me being well so I can pass on to my children that everything will be fine and will be resolved”, he declared.
During the investigation, the police discovered that the girl's brother, a 5-year-old boy and stepson of the suspect, had also been a victim of domestic violence. According to reports from family members and information gathered by the police, the child suffered previous attacks with a belt and a piece of wood, resulting in visible marks on his face.
In view of the statements and evidence gathered during the investigation, the Public Ministry and the Judiciary determined the preventive detention of the suspect, who ended up being located and arrested by the authorities.
