Body of missing cook in Ubatuba is located in Angra; ex-boss is arrested

The woman had been missing since June 30, when she left work, in the Ubatumirim neighborhood, in Ubatuba, on the coast of São Paulo.

The DIG (General Investigations Department) of the São Sebastião Section stated that the body was located during searches in the city of Rio de Janeiro, with support from the 3rd Baep (Special Police Actions Battalion) of São José dos Campos and the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro.

The cook's body was located in a forested area in Serra d'Água, in a difficult to access location. Forensics were called and the police are carrying out searches to try to clarify the case.

Berenice's former boss, a 46-year-old woman, is suspected of having committed the crime. She was temporarily arrested on the 10th and remains in detention, according to the SSP (Secretariat of Public Security) in São Paulo. Folha did not identify her defense.

Angra dos Reis Police stated that they provided support to the São Paulo police, carrying out the removal of the body, forensic procedures and other measures that contributed to locating the victim. Investigations into the crime remain under the responsibility of the São Paulo Civil Police.

According to TV Record, the crime was motivated by labor debts. The suspect was arrested after contradictions in her statements. Furthermore, an examination of her vehicle found traces of blood.

The body was recognized by the cook's son, based on a tattoo, but official identification should occur in the next few days, based on exams from the IML (Legal Medical Institute).
