The Opta supercomputer, a technology specializing in data analysis, projected the favorites for the World Cup quarterfinals. France, Spain, England and Argentina are, according to data analysis, the teams that should advance to the semifinals.
The machine got six of the eight classified in the quarter-finals right. Previously, he had guessed the winners of 14 of the 16 second-round games.
How is the analysis performed?
The analysis carried out around 10 thousand simulations to identify the percentage of each selection. The same platform placed Paris Saint-Germain with a 56% chance of becoming the Champions League champion, which was confirmed.
Among other predictions released, the School of Applied Mathematics of Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) indicated a 15.57% probability of Spain emerging as champion of the tournament, with 4.68% for the Brazilian team.
Another Brazilian statistic, from the so-called “Seer of Cups”, disagrees and places Cristiano Ronaldo's team as the squad with the greatest chance of lifting the cup, with the Spanish team being runner-up and Brazil falling before the semi-finals.
See below all the supercomputer projections for the quarters:

France 72.10% x 27.90% Morocco
Spain 70.72% x 29.28% Belgium
Norway 38.04% x 61.96% England
Argentina 63.62% x 36.38% Switzerland
