The President of the United States, Donald Trump, said this Tuesday (14) that he has given up charging a 20% tax on products from ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, as he had announced on Monday (13). Trump said he will "replace" tariffs with trade and investment agreements with "several Persian Gulf countries."

Despite giving up the fee, the American president said that the US plan to resume the naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz — scheduled to begin this Tuesday — remains on track. The blockade, Trump said, will only be carried out on vessels from Iran and along the entire Iranian coast. This report is being updated.
