About a month later, they got engaged and, on February 11th, 2026, they made their civil union official. Even though they were married, they decided to hold a religious ceremony to celebrate the moment. She explained that both had already been in other relationships and wanted to mark the beginning of this new stage with a special celebration. According to Gilmara, the canoe entry was her husband's idea, the owner of the inn where the wedding took place. "When he told me, I supported him from the beginning. It was a very beautiful and memorable moment," he said. Amarildo stated that he had been imagining this scene for many years, before he even met his wife. "I always dreamed of seeing a groom arriving by boat across the inn's lake to get married. I never imagined it would be me living that moment. It ended up being the realization of an old dream", he said.
