The Central Bank (BC) updated the data and reported this Tuesday (14) that there are still R$6.241 billion in “forgotten resources” by customers in financial institutions. The balance considers values ??recorded until May of this year. Of this total: R$4,437,422,917.99 are resources from 24,080,039 individuals; R$ 1,804,196,767.06 are amounts from 2,274,851 companies. In March, according to the Central Bank, there were R$10.6 billion in forgotten amounts in financial institutions. Part of the amount was transferred to a public fund to make Desenrola 2.0 viable. The BC system allows you to check whether individuals (including deceased people) and companies left valuables behind in banks, consortiums or other institutions. Government announced use of the money; TCU investigates Forgotten money: government wants to use part of the amount to finance Desenrola 2.0 At the beginning of May, the government announced the use of R$5 billion to R$8 billion of resources forgotten by workers in banks to enable discounts in Desenrola 2.0 – a new debt renegotiation program. At the end of May, part of the money, around R$5.7 billion, was sent to a public fund, the Operations Guarantee Fund (FGO), to offer guarantees to financial institutions, that is, part of the money from this fund will cover any default by borrowers. "The unclaimed resources will be used for the FGO to guarantee the operations of the financial system itself. There will be a segregation of 10% of the transferred balance that will be available to cover possible redemption requests [by account holders]", informed the government at the time. As g1 reported in June, the case was targeted by the Federal Audit Court (TCU). Court technicians investigate the use of resources for federal programs outside the public budget. As it does not go through the Union budget, the resources are not within the spending limits that must be obeyed. According to the rules, expenses cannot grow more than 2.5% per year (above inflation). If it were formally included in the budget, and consequently in the spending limit, the government would have to block an equal amount in other free (discretionary) expenses, increasing the difficulties in an election year. Last month, the government reported that, precisely to comply with the existing spending limit, R$23.7 billion of the ministries' budget had already been blocked this year. Limited resources are already affecting important areas, such as inspection activities, investments in technology and the provision of services to the population, such as regulatory agencies.
