According to the minister, negotiations should continue even after sending the report to the White House. Brazil's objective is to remove sectors from the so-called tariff and reduce the rates that may be applied. The purpose of the negotiations is to remove sectors from pricing and reduce tariffs. In practice, following the conclusion of the USTR, a window opens for concrete proposals from the USA and Brazil to ease tariffs. This vision is also shared by members of the Trump administration. Among company representatives who participated in the hearings in recent days, the impression that remained is that the tariff is inevitable, but can be calibrated by the effects on the US economy. One of the arguments being used is that making the entry of Brazilian products more expensive will increase the dependence of American production lines on inputs and items from China — which the Trump administration does not want to happen.
