Civil Defense issues red alert for flood risk in areas of RS

The Civil Defense of Rio Grande do Sul issued, this Thursday morning (30), a series of red alerts indicating a very high risk of flooding in municipalities located on the banks of the Jacuí and Taquari rivers. The warnings remain valid until different times this Friday (31), depending on the region.

One of the alerts covers the municipality of Eldorado do Sul, where there is a high risk of flooding from the Jacuí River. The announcement is valid until 10:20 am on Friday (31).

Another alert was issued for Cachoeira do Sul, also due to the rise of the Jacuí River. In this case, the notice is valid until 9am on Friday.

Civil Defense also reported a very high risk of flooding on the Taquari River, in the stretch between the municipalities of Taquari and General Câmara. The alert remains in effect until 8am on Friday.

In Bom Retiro do Sul, the risk of flooding from the Taquari River led to a red alert valid until 7pm this Thursday.

Guidelines for the population

Civil Defense advises that residents of areas under alert follow the information released by official bodies and consult the Contingency Plan of their respective municipalities to learn about security procedures.

In emergency situations, the recommendation is to call the Military Brigade, by calling 190, or the Military Fire Brigade, by calling 193.

Authorities reinforce that the population must avoid flooded areas, respect blockades and follow the instructions of civil defense and rescue teams.
