The meeting took place this Friday (24), on the main stage of Expert XP, a festival held at São Paulo Expo, in the capital of São Paulo.
The painting, titled "Bliss", remained a secret until the moment of delivery. Measuring 2.15 meters high and 1.35 meters wide, the work references the film "The Pursuit of Happyness" (2006), one of the most notable works of Smith's career, but also brings together elements that cover different phases of the actor's life, from the time he emerged in hip-hop culture to winning the Oscar.
According to Eduardo Kobra, the intention was to portray much more than a movie character. The painting celebrates themes such as perseverance, transformation, courage to start over and the search for personal fulfillment, values ??that, in the artist's view, speak directly to Will Smith's trajectory.
"Thank you. Your brilliant trajectory inspired me to create this painting for you. My dream is to turn this canvas into a mural, on a building, maybe somewhere in the world. I also started at 12 years old within the hip-hop culture. I portrayed you as the little Fresh Prince", said Kobra upon handing over the work.
Visibly moved, Will Smith thanked him several times for the gift and made a point of hugging the Brazilian artist. The actor classified the painting as "magnificent" and called Kobra his "brother" in front of the public.
"You really inspire a lot of people. Thank you, brother. Thank you very much. I loved it. It's magnificent. Thank you very much", replied the star, drawing applause from the audience.
In addition to the tribute, Will Smith participated in a chat during the event, in which he spoke about notable moments in his career, friendships built throughout his life, professional decisions and the challenges of maintaining trust at different stages of his career.
