Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk had no difficulty defeating Italian Jasmine Paolini, 2024 runner-up, on a central court in scorching heat, and advanced to the Wimbledon semifinals with a score of 6-3 and 6-2 this Wednesday (8).

The 12th seed was relentless from the start, winning the first set in 36 minutes, breaking Paolini's serve to go up 3-2 and then again at 5-3.

The 24-year-old, who was in the Wimbledon singles quarter-finals and playing on Center Court for the first time, had lost her last two meetings against her 13th-seeded opponent, but used her powerful forehand to decisive effect in a stunning victory.

She broke Paolini's serve again to take a 3-1 lead in the second set, without the Italian even having a chance to break, and then confirmed her serve.

With Queen Camilla watching from the Royal Tribune, the crowd tried to support the “underdog”, but Kostyuk mercilessly closed the game in the 69th minute, with a second match point on the Italian's serve.
