After chaos, Tarcísio government resumes operation of lines granted to Trivia Trens

The three lines faced problems this Thursday (23), which created chaos in public transport in the city of São Paulo. This made Artesp (the state's transport regulatory agency) propose a joint operation measure until the causes of the failures were clarified.

To come into effect, the plan still needs to be ratified by Artesp's board of directors, which should happen this Thursday afternoon. The meeting will decide the details of how the operation will work.

The concessionaire took control of the three lines on Tuesday (21), under the supervision of CPTM.

"What we saw in the last two days, especially today, is unacceptable. As inspectors and regulators of the contract, we are acting immediately. The idea is to return CPTM to operation because what we saw is really very bad, very painful for the citizen," said André Isper, the agency's CEO, in a statement. "We will work to ensure excellent service to citizens, without allowing poor service to harm those who depend on transport every day."

The São Paulo government's plan was published by G1 and confirmed by Folha de S.Paulo.

FAILURE PARALYZES LINES IN THE CITY

The failure in the electricity supply paralyzed lines 11-coral, 12-sapphire and 13-jade, all managed by Trivia Trens, this Thursday morning), in São Paulo.

The failure of a train at around 5:40 am caused an "electrical event between Tatuapé and Brás stations", according to the company. Circulation was interrupted and passengers had to walk along the tracks to reach the stations. In the early hours of the morning, users had to turn on their cell phone flashlights to illuminate the route. Many had to jump over walls surrounding the lines and continue walking along avenues on long journeys.

The company has not yet disclosed what caused the failure, but the Fire Department stated that at 5:38 am there was a fire in a train at number 1,408 on Rua Bresser, in Brás. Images circulating on social media show that users had to open the train doors to escape the flames.

According to the corporation, there was a lot of smoke, but no injuries were reported.

Trivia Trens says it regrets "the inconvenience caused to passengers and reinforces that it is mobilizing all necessary resources to reestablish the operation. The concessionaire advises passengers to follow updates on circulation through official channels."

The company has not yet commented on the government's plan to resume operations for 90 days.

The concessionaire states that the normalization process began at 9:50 am. At 11am, lines 11 and 13 were already operating along their entire length. Line 12 runs partially between Tatuapé and Calmon Viana stations.

In an interview with TV Globo, Paulo Ferreira, director of Trivia Trens, stated that the failure will be investigated.

"This entire event will be investigated in detail to find out what worked and what didn't work. We will adjust what didn't work from now on," he said.
