With a slim victory, Colombia is last classified in the round of 16 of the World Cup

In the next knockout stage, the Colombians will face Switzerland, who beat Algeria 2-0, next Tuesday (7), at 5pm (Brasília time), at the BC Place stadium, in Vancouver (Canada).

In the group stage, they debuted by beating Uzbekistan 3-1, then defeated the Democratic Republic of Congo 1-0 and drew goalless with Portugal, which guaranteed them first place in Group K.

This Friday, as soon as the referee whistled the start of the game, Ghana went on the attack and were already in danger in the first move. After Senaya's cross in the area, the Colombian defense cut it and the ball fell to Partey, who shot from distance, passing close to Vargas' goal.

Despite this start, the Ghanaians did not maintain the pace and soon the Colombians began to dominate the actions, with always dangerous arrivals. This was how Jhon Arias, Palmeiras' attacking midfielder, scored in the 13th minute. Luis Suárez attacked from the right, passed a defender, reached the baseline and crossed into the area. The ball passed goalkeeper Ati Zigi and reached Arias, who only had the trouble of touching the left corner, against the foot of shirt number 1.

Colombia maintained its dominance until the hydration break, when coach Carlos Queiroz spoke to the Ghana players and the team changed its attitude, starting to put pressure on its rival and getting more attacking. At 36 minutes, Semenyo received the ball in the middle, adjusted the ball and risked a long shot. The ball deflected off the defense and went for a corner.

But it was Colombia that continued to face the most danger. Until the end of the partial, he arrived with Luis Suárez, Luis Díaz and Mojica. In that last move, at 45 minutes, the Ghanaian goalkeeper saved his team by making a difficult save with a header from close range.

The second half was more balanced, with both teams alternating attacking moves, although this did not always mean putting the rival goalkeeper in danger.

Semenyo, Ghana's star player, made a good move after just 7 minutes, but without success, and it was Colombia who came closest to increasing the score.

The Ghana goalkeeper saved his team with a shot from Puerta in the 9th minute, Luis Díaz had a goal disallowed in the 11th minute, due to offside, and the same Colombian striker missed another great opportunity in the next move by shooting the ball over Ati Zigi.

At 35 minutes, Colombian defender Davinson Sánchez headed a corner kick alone, but the Ghanaian goalkeeper managed to catch it firmly, avoiding the South Americans' second goal.

Until the final whistle, the scenario remained the same, with Colombia's defense avoiding Ghana's shots and trying to increase the score with counterattacks or shots from outside the area by Quintero and Richard Ríos.

In the end, Colombia took 18 shots on goal, hitting 7 on target, while the African team took 8 shots and didn't hit Vargas' goal.
