She had been hospitalized since May 30th at the Asa Norte Regional Hospital (Hran), in Brasília, after suffering a domestic accident that left her in a coma for around two months.
According to reports from friends and family published on social media, Érika suffered burns when she approached a bonfire during a June festival.
Record only reported that the journalist was hospitalized as a result of a domestic accident, without disclosing further details about this accident.
A member of the Record Brasília team since 2019, Érika gained national recognition by participating in coverage of political, economic and cultural topics.
At the station, he also stood out for producing local reports and conducting Public Interest, a program produced by the Federal Public Ministry and shown on TV Justiça. His last appearance on television took place on May 27, a few days before his hospitalization.
Born in Goiás, Érika Leal had a degree in journalism from UFG (Federal University of Goiás) and a master's degree in Language Interpretation and Translation from the University of Westminster, in London. Throughout his career, he accumulated experience in television, radio, internet, newspapers, magazines and press relations.
Before Record, she worked for seven years at Grupo Bandeirantes, where she worked as a reporter and text editor in the politics and culture sections, in addition to being part of the teams at Jornal de Brasília, Tribuna do Brasil and Rádio CBN.
On social media, the journalist, who had just over 5,000 followers, used to share behind-the-scenes TV and moments with her family and daughters, Jaqueline, 19, and Jéssica, 17.
The professional's death provoked expressions of grief among professional colleagues, friends and viewers, who highlighted her dedication to journalism and the respectful way in which she conducted interviews and reports throughout her professional career.
