The deadline for workers born in June to withdraw funds also ends this month. If the amount is not withdrawn by August 31st, the funds will automatically return to the FGTS account and can only be used in a new case provided for by law.
The birthday withdrawal is an optional modality that allows workers to annually withdraw part of their FGTS balance in the month of their birthday. On the other hand, whoever chooses this modality loses the right to withdraw the full balance of the account in the event of unfair dismissal, maintaining only the 40% termination fine.
Payment can be requested via the FGTS app, with credit to a bank account held by the worker, or made in person at Caixa branches, lottery outlets and Caixa Aqui correspondents.*SEE THE FGTS ANNIVERSARY WITHDRAWAL CALENDAR IN 2026

Any worker who has a balance in active or inactive FGTS accounts can join the birthday withdrawal. The option must be made through the official FGTS application or at a Caixa branch. Anyone who does not sign up automatically remains in the traditional mode, withdrawal-termination.
The change to the birthday withdrawal is immediate. However, anyone who decides to return to withdrawal must comply with a grace period. The change will only take effect on the first day of the 25th month after the request.
HOW TO WITHDRAW FGTS?
The request can be made through the FGTS application:- Log in with your Gov.br account;- Access the "Birthday Withdrawal" option;- Enter a bank account to receive the credit;- Confirm the request. It is also possible to withdraw the money in person at Caixa branches, lottery outlets and Caixa Aqui correspondents.
HOW MUCH CAN YOU RECEIVE?
The amount varies depending on the balance available in FGTS accounts. The rate decreases as the balance increases, but there is a fixed additional installment. For example, a worker who has R$1,000 in the FGTS can withdraw R$450, with R$400 corresponding to the 40% rate and R$50 corresponding to the additional installment.
CAN I EARLY WITHDRAWAL?
Yes. Workers who have signed up to the anniversary withdrawal can take out loans using future withdrawals as collateral, as long as the financial institution is qualified to operate this modality.
Since November 2025, the anticipation rules have changed. For new memberships, the worker must wait 90 days to authorize the balance to be consulted by financial institutions. Until October 31, 2026, it is possible to advance up to five annual installments, respecting the limits established by regulation. From November this year, the limit drops to three annual withdrawals, in addition to other restrictions for new operations.
