SÃO PAULO, SP (FOLHAPRESS) - The adaptation of the Greek epic "The Odyssey" made by director Christopher Nolan reached the US$1 billion mark (around R$5 billion) at the global box office. The film, to date, is the director's second highest-grossing film, behind only "Batman: The Dark Knight Rises" (2012), which grossed US$1.085 billion (R$5.5 billion).

In total, the film grosses US$429 million (R$2.1 billion) in the domestic market, which includes the United States and Canada, and US$570 million (R$2.9 billion) in the rest of the world. This number could still increase, as the film has not yet been released in South Korea, China and Japan.

The Imax theaters, adapted to the format in which the director recorded the film, generated US$257 million (R$1.3 billion) for the film worldwide. According to information from the company itself, July was the month with the highest profit in Imax's history.

In 2026 alone, five films have already reached the US$1 billion mark at the box office, in addition to "The Odyssey", they were: "Spider-Man: A New Day", "Toy Story 5", "Michael" and "Super Mario Galaxy: The Movie".
