Among Catholics, there is a technical tie, with a margin of error of 3 percentage points: 43% are on the right or center-right, and 39% are on the left or center-left.
In the detailed scale among evangelicals, 19% are classified as right-wing, and 33% as center-right. Another 18% are in the center, 23% in the center-left and 7% in the left.
Among Catholics, the distribution is less concentrated in one camp: 14% appear on the right, 29% on the center-right, 18% on the center, 28% on the center-left and 11% on the left.
The difference is strongest on the behavior axis. In this group, 61% of evangelicals are on the right or center-right, compared to 18% on the left or center-left. Among Catholics, the right accounts for 52%, and the left, 27%.
In the economy, the situation is closer to the national average, where the left accumulates 46%, the right, 28%, and the center, 26%. Among Catholics, the left is ahead, with 47%, compared to 27% on the right and 26% in the center.
Among evangelicals, left and right are in a technical tie on the economic axis, considering a margin of error of 5 percentage points, up and down, in the cut-off. The left accounts for 39%, the right, 33%, and the center, 28%.
The ideological matrix is calculated from answers to questions about behavior and economic thought. The first axis includes themes such as weapons, poverty, crime, homosexuality, belief in God, unions and punishment of teenagers who commit crimes. The second includes questions about taxes, the government's role in the economy, public benefits, labor laws and investment.
The general scale gives the same weight to both axes, although behavior has ten questions and economy has six.
Datafolha interviewed in person 2,004 voters aged 16 or over in 139 municipalities, on June 17 and 18, 2026. The maximum margin of error for the total sample is 2 percentage points, plus or minus, within the 95% confidence level. In strata, the margin varies depending on the base. The research is registered with the TSE under number BR-09956/2026.
