According to information published by The Telegraph, Schwabe was 69 years old and died after facing cancer. The type of disease was not reported by the publication.
Before becoming a teacher, Schwabe worked as a police officer. He then went on to teach criminal justice at Hendersonville High School in Nashville, where Taylor studied between 2004 and 2006.
The relationship of trust with the singer and her family led to him being invited, in 2009, to work as the artist's personal security guard, a period in which her career began to gain worldwide prominence.
In an interview with The Telegraph before he died, Schwabe said that he left the role due to exhaustion, but stated that he continued to have affection for Taylor and followed his career with admiration.
His wife, Jane, told the newspaper that Schwabe treated Taylor “like a daughter.” The family also highlighted that he was a person who made others feel seen, valued and protected.
The former teacher's death occurred on the same day that Taylor Swift officially married Travis Kelce, in a ceremony surrounded by great repercussion in the United States.
