The Civil Police began investigating the case after a complaint was sent to the city hall. The information indicated that a child with special needs was being abused and kept in prison inside a commercial establishment.
Teams from the Child and Adolescent Protection Police Station, the Guardianship Council and the Front Line Program went to the address and found the teenager alone, trapped in the property. According to investigators, there were signs that he was kept in chains.
During the investigations, the police identified signs that the stepfather intended to leave Anápolis. The DPCA requested the suspect's preventive detention, and the request was authorized by the Court.
The man was located at the city's bus station on Tuesday afternoon, when he tried to escape. After arrest, he was taken for interrogation.
According to delegate Aline Lopes, head of the Anápolis DPCA, the suspect said he had been in a relationship with the teenager's mother for three months. He also admitted that he chained the boy and claimed that he took the measure because the young man would be very violent.
The mother told the police that she was also attacked and that her partner prevented her from looking for her son. The suspect told agents where she was after being arrested.
The investigation will continue to determine whether the woman participated in the mistreatment. The police consider the possibility that she is also a victim of domestic violence committed by the man.
According to the Civil Police of Goiás, the penalties provided for the crimes attributed to the person being investigated can reach, together, 13 years in prison. He was sent to the prison system and remains at the disposal of Justice.
