According to delegate Hugo de Alcântara, the facts surrounding the kidnapping are being analyzed to clarify whether third parties were involved. The investigation is being conducted by the Teresina Child and Adolescent Protection Police Station (DPCA).
There is still no confirmation that she had help. Around eleven statements have been collected by the DPCA so far, and the deadline for completing the investigation is Friday (10).
Nursing technician Auricélia Rocha tried to take the baby from a maternity hospital in Teresina. The case occurred at the Dona Evangelina Rosa Maternity Hospital, on July 6, where she had worked for just over two years, but was off that day.
The suspect deceived the child's mother, stating that she needed to take the newborn for exams. The baby's aunt became suspicious of the action and followed the employee to the bathroom. In an interview with Fantástico, on TV Globo, Daniela Beatriz said she noticed that the technician left the place with a large black bag and wearing other clothes.
Auricélia had a baby room at home. The Piauí Civil Police found a room fully equipped to receive a newborn in the home of the person being investigated. According to the police chief, witnesses said they threw a baby shower for the suspect.
Family members believed she was pregnant. However, investigators stated that she did not present tests that proved she was pregnant.
The court ordered the nursing technician's preventive detention. She was admitted to a psychiatric clinic by her family after the case, but the police served the arrest warrant as soon as she was released.
Lawyers will ask for the arrest to be revoked. In a note, Auricélia's defense informed that it will file the request, and, if necessary, file a habeas corpus at the Piau Court of Justice
Auricélia would have presented schizophrenic symptoms. The defense also stated that she was diagnosed with acute polymorphous psychotic disorder and takes psychiatric medications.
The police discard the thesis of mental insanity to free the person being investigated from punishment. The delegate responsible for the case maintains that she acted alone and will be charged with attempted kidnapping.
