The 38-year-old athlete looked for Yanina Maranella and her children Aarón and Ainhoa in the wreckage of the building where the three were at the time of the tremors. The building, located in Playa Grande, on the Venezuelan coast, collapsed during the earthquake.
"A month ago I was living the worst moment of my life. The only thing that scared me was losing my family. I had to look for my wife and two children in a completely collapsed building, knowing that they were already dead," he wrote.
Trejo stated that, despite the destruction and lack of news, he remained hopeful of locating his family members alive. On the third day of searches, he gathered people close to him for prayer.
"I decided to do it out of faith, believing that they could be alive. On the third day, I decided to get together and pray for a miracle. That's how I choose to live: by faith, even in the worst circumstances," he declared.
In the publication, the player also thanked those who accompanied him during the first hours after the earthquake. According to him, the welcome he received was fundamental in coping with the loss.
"Each of you has a name, and I remember very well who was with me. God sent you to welcome and sustain me. Without you, I would not have endured so much pain. I have never been alone. Thank you truly," he wrote.
The Argentine also said that he intends to maintain the Christian work developed alongside his wife in Venezuela. For Trejo, continuing the mission shared with Yanina will be a way to preserve the family legacy.
"Their lives will not be in vain. What we started together will continue, because God's purpose in this nation will be fulfilled. See you soon, Venezuela," he said.

Shortly after the earthquake, the player had reported on social media that he could not contact his wife and children. The three were in the family's apartment when the building collapsed. The deaths were confirmed days later.
Marítimo de La Guaira, a Venezuelan second division team defended by Trejo, released a note of condolence after locating the victims.
"The board, the technical committee, the players and the entire club team ask God for the eternal rest of Lucas Trejo's family. We also continue to pray for the rescue of the other victims of this catastrophe", informed the club.
The most recent official balance points to more than 5,000 deaths and around 17,000 injuries as a result of the earthquake. Authorities admit that the number of fatalities could exceed 10,000, as rescue teams continue to search for the missing.
At least 190 buildings completely collapsed and approximately one thousand buildings suffered structural damage. The destruction also left thousands of families homeless in the affected areas.
