BRASÍLIA, DF (FOLHAPRESS) - This Thursday (9) the Federal Police served two preventive arrest warrants and 21 search and seizure warrants in an operation on suspected deviations from parliamentary amendments aimed at NGOs in Rio de Janeiro.

The amendments under investigation are from former federal deputy Chiquinho Brazão, convicted of having ordered the murder of councilor Marielle Franco (PSOL) and driver Anderson Gomes. Last year, the Court authorized his transfer to house arrest.

The warrants were issued by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF (Supreme Federal Court).

According to the PF, suspicions of crimes of embezzlement, money laundering and criminal organization are being investigated. Asset blockages worth R$100 million were determined.

The investigation, says the agency, "identified that part of the resources from federal parliamentary amendments intended for non-profit entities, which maintained contracts and partnerships with federal public administration bodies, would have been diverted through undue payments, use of interposed companies and mechanisms designed to hide the origin and destination of the amounts".

"Those investigated would have used civil society organizations, individuals and legal entities linked to the group for financial transactions and asset concealment, with evidence of transfers made through companies and third parties used as intermediaries."

The report contacted Chiquinho's defense by message, but the lawyers have not yet commented.
