Federal deputy Patrus Ananias (PT) confirmed that he is a pre-candidate for the government of Minas Gerais. The former minister and former mayor of Belo Horizonte announced his pre-candidacy in a video published on social media. The pre-candidate's name must be made official at the party's state convention, scheduled for July 31st.

"Because of the work we did in Belo Horizonte, President Lula summoned us," said Ananias. "I then want to travel around our state to talk to you directly, listen to people and, together, build the state of Minas Gerais", added the pre-candidate.

The choice of the federal deputy to run for state government was brought forward by Estadão last week. The PT had already decided that it would have its own candidate in the dispute in Minas. The preferred name was that of Marília Campos, former mayor of Contagem, who insisted and maintained her pre-candidacy for the Senate. The choice of Patrus Ananias has gained momentum in recent days.

Before deciding on its own candidacy, the PT waited for months for a decision from senator Rodrigo Pacheco (PSB). The former president of the Senate, however, preferred to end his public life.

Now, the PSB must be sought to form the ticket headed by the former minister of Social Development and Fight Against Hunger.
